Nom Nom!

I harvested my first squashes and zucchini this past Sunday! They were so pretty. They didn’t last long either because last night I used them all for supper. I diced them up and quickly sautéed them in a bit of olive oil, added salt and pepper and voila! They were delicious.

Two types of squash and a zucchini. Don't they look so happy! I know my belly was happy.... :)

Eating home-grown is the way to go!

My garden update: 5-23-15

I was taking care of a few weeds this morning before it became too hot and I discovered these beauties! I can almost taste them!

I also wanted to show a more detailed photo of my basil. This photo shows where the plant is beginning to flower and go to seed. To prevent that from happening and continue its growth, pick these ends off before they get too large. I would actually pick it off before it got to this size, but it seems I missed one! It’s still ok! After taking this photo I removed it.

Once you plan to save the seed, do not remove these!

Have a wonderful and safe holiday weekend! And I hope the weather is well enough for everyone to get their head in the garden.

My garden update: 5/21/15

These pictures are a few days old but it’s been raining today and the garden looks a bit sad despite all of the great growth. These pictures are much better than any I would have gotten today.

We went to Texas recently for a few days and when we came back the garden had just exploded! Take a look!

Beginning to ripen!

I’m so excited about the size of my squash plants. I hope they produce a lot! I’ve gotten my first red tomatoes as well. Woot woot!! I am a little disappointed about my pepper plants and one of my zucchini, but they seem to be stunted. Not really sure why… Maybe cooler weather a couple of weeks ago. ?? Anyways, I’m excited and thrilled with how my raised beds have done so far. The potatoes are doing great too!!

How’s your garden??
