Scientific Name: Allium ampeloprasum L. var. porrum

Eatable portion: Pseudostem, leaves

Preferred Temperatures (°F): between 68 – 77°F, have been successfully overwintered.

Preferred pH: 6.0 – 6.8

Plant spacing: Seed produced transplants are most commonly used, planted 4 – 6 inches, possibly deeper, into a shallow trench. They prefer the full sun.

Seedlings are grown 2 – 3 months before transplanting. After transplanting, 120 – 150 days are required for growth. Leeks have no definitive harvest period and are commonly harvested when vegetative growth is still occurring. Store 2 – 3 months at 32°F.
