Pear Marmalade

I heard through the grapevine that there were a few people wanting the pear marmalade recipe! Here it is, enjoy!

Ingredients:

4 cups of chopped pears

4 cups of sugar

1 – 8oz can of crushed pineapple

1 package of fruit sure-jell

Directions:

Chop the pears.

Processed pears eliminate the need to smash them.

Combine the pears and sugar in a large pan. Start the pears on low heat; then increase to medium, stirring constantly.

Cook the pears until tender – about 15 to 20 minutes.

Mash the pears (skip if a food processor was used) and stir in the pineapple. Bring it to a boil. Stir in the sure-jell and bring to a boil again.

Spoon the mixture into hot jars leaving ¼ inch head space and seal with hot lids.

This recipe yields 3 to 4 pints.

Caution: You can NOT double this recipe (because of the sure-jell). The recipe is made according to the sure-jell packet, therefore ingredient amounts should not vary.
